    FAQ

    Is my file uploaded to a server?
    No. Reading, converting and downloading all happen inside your browser; the file never leaves your device. We only record an anonymous usage tally (feature count, formats, approximate work area) with your consent — same as the other tools.
    Which formats are supported?
    Eight formats in AND out: CSV/text, Excel (XLSX), GeoJSON, KML, KMZ, GPX, DXF (ASCII AutoCAD) and zipped Shapefile (shp/shx/dbf/prj). Points, lines and polygons (with holes) plus the Multi* variants are all supported.
    What must a zipped shapefile contain?
    Upload a ZIP holding at least the .shp (geometry), .dbf (attribute table) and .prj (coordinate system) — plus .cpg for encoding when present. Exports produce a complete ZIP with those files and a README documenting any field renames (the 10-character dBase limit).
    Why do KML, GPX and GeoJSON always export in WGS 84?
    Their specifications mandate WGS 84 longitude/latitude (the GPS system). The tool reprojects automatically from your source system — just pick the right source and we handle the rest. DXF, CSV, Excel and Shapefile accept any of the 195 systems.
    How does the tool know my file’s coordinate system?
    GeoJSON, KML and GPX imply WGS 84 by spec, and shapefiles declare theirs in the .prj (auto-matched against the Arab-world registry). DXF, CSV and Excel carry none — you pick from 195 systems across 22 Arab countries.
    How is Arabic text in legacy shapefile tables handled?
    The .dbf table is read as UTF-8 first; if that fails we fall back to Windows-1256 (the legacy Arabic codepage) with a clear notice, and honour a .cpg sidecar when present. Exports are always UTF-8 with a .cpg included.
    How do polygons become GPX, or lines become Excel?
    GPX has no polygon type, so polygons export as closed tracks (inner holes dropped) with an upfront notice. CSV/Excel write lines and polygons into a standard WKT column that QGIS and ArcGIS read — nothing is ever dropped silently.
    Are elevations (Z values) preserved?
    Yes — Z values pass through every format that supports them. Reprojection is horizontal (no vertical datum transformation), the standard behaviour in surveying file exchange.
    What are the size limits?
    Up to 50 MB, 50,000 features and two million vertices — enough for very large survey jobs. Split bigger files and convert each part. The tool is free, no sign-up, no usage caps.
