    FAQ

    What is an EPSG code?
An EPSG code is a global numeric identifier for a coordinate system — it pins down the projection, datum, and units exactly, so there is no ambiguity about which system you are using. For example, 4326 is geographic WGS 84.
Why do coordinates differ between systems for the same place?
Because each system is built on a different datum and projection; converting between them needs the datum-shift parameters (towgs84). We show each system’s accuracy versus PROJ on its page.
How do I use this reference?
Pick your country, then a system to see its parameters, proj4, WKT, and area of use, and click “Convert from this system” to open the converter preloaded.
